Chris is a lifelong resident of St. Paul, Minnesota, and recently joined Millennium Settlement Consulting in March 2010. Although Chris is new to the structured settlement industry, he is no stranger to the insurance business. He is a second-generation insurance professional; he literally grew up in the insurance business. His father ran one of the oldest privately held insurance agencies in the country before selling to Acordia/Wells Fargo Insurance. Chris has been involved in the insurance business in several different facets, from insurance company employee, to agent, and agency owner. He has a broad understanding and knowledge of many lines of insurance.
Chris began his professional career in the insurance industry with Assurant, formerly known as Fortis Benefits, in 1995 working as a group representative selling employee benefit programs, group life, long-term and short-term disability. In 1998, he started The Wefel Bonding Company, Inc., specializing in selling various court surety bonds: including but not limited to plaintiff’s court bonds, guardianships, conservatorships, lost instruments, and appeal bonds; in addition he was a bail bond agent with Absolute Bail Bonds.
Chris’s passion to get involved in the structure settlement industry and help injured people derived from his own personal experience. In December 2008, he was rear-ended in a motor-vehicle accident by an inattentive driver and suffered injuries. He has first hand knowledge of the difficulties that arise from being injured, the inability to work, the pain and suffering, financial worries and stress along with the complexities of dealing with insurance companies that follow. Chris believes his personal experience provides a value-added benefit when acting as an advocate for his attorneys and their clients.
In his spare time, Chris is an avid outdoor sportsman. As a former competitive mogul skier, he enjoys both down-hill and cross-country skiing. He also enjoys mountain biking, kayaking, an occasional game of golf and is into competitive sporting clays. Chis enjoys spending time with his wife Jessica and daughters, Madison, Alexandra and Cecilia.
